Ala had walked to the mall from the fan sponsored house for the other utauloids, just to get out of the house. On his way to the mall he started thinking back a a video game that he had played recently. In this game called Megaman, one man, a genius had the ability to make robot that could think and act by themselves, they were self governed not being controlled by the outside world unless they were hacked into. That idea, just the general idea of robots having their own lives was interesting, as he also knew that he was created out of a similar principle about 3 years ago.
Ala walked into the mall, noticing as several people scattered throughout recognized him. He was heard of, but he wasn't world famous and probably wouldn't be for a while if at all. He sang random kinds of songs, sometimes covers of songs, other times there are songs that he came up with, with the help of G, his creator.
He was humming a song that sounded vaguely familar. He was humming the song of some Vocaloid, which inspired G to give Ala the ability to sing. The name of the song he couldn't remember, but that didn't matter as he was so focused on this relation to Megaman and trying to figure who sang that song he was humming, that he was not paying attention to where he was going and he ran into someone, and ended up falling down on his rear end. Before Ala could look at who he ran into, he said," Ouch. Sorry about that."

Rin was walking around at the mall, trying to pass out some promotional items, as she quite often times will in order to spread the word about Vocaloids out to people who may not live in this area who were out shopping in the mall. So far, Kagamine Rin was having a fairly good day, compared to others. She had gotten into contact with some people, pulled a few strings, and now she was walking around with a bag filled with cheap, plastic figurines, much like the ones that you would run into at any run of the mill McDonald's. Except for the fact that they were of some of the Vocaloids. The ones that she got to tote along with her today were ones of her, as well as Miku. Len, and CUL, who had proven to be a bit more popular with the crowd in some areas. IA was another figurine, as well as the last one that anyone would make for her. Rin couldn't help but feel bad for those who didn't get one made, but maybe next time. Besides, some people didn't even want a few of the figurines. The ones that had been given out the most seemed to be both hers, and IA's, quite randomly. This made her wonder, why did little children adore her so? Was her look, that cute and childish? While Rin was walking around, bag around her shoulder, she ended up butting heads with someone else. "Ouff!" Rin grunted, startled when she walked into the person. The breath was knocked out of her, and she landed on the ground, butt first. Her bag went flying, sending dozens of Lens and Mikus and CULs all over the place. This made Rin's eyes widen, and, a little bit annoyed, looked up at whom had collided with her.
The boy said sorry, and Rin quickly nodded. "Of course, that's fine" Rin figured it was just another person, maybe even a fan, so she decided to be as kind and pleasant with the person as she could be. The boy wasn't a recognizable Vocaloid, and so she figured it was just a person. [doesn't know what UTAUS are yet] So Rin simply began to pick up all the figurines. "Honestly, it's my fault that we collided" Rin added on as she was getting all of her stuff tidied up. Maybe if she was nice to the boy, he would help her out by spreading some of the toys around. That would be quite nice.

After Ala had said he was sorry, a voice responded,"Of course, that's fine." By the way it sounded, it came from a girl maybe a few years younger than he was. He finally looked up and saw it was actually a girl, maybe fourteen or fifteen. Then the girl had said," Honestly it's my fault that we collided." Ala wasn't sure about how to respond to that. He was positive that he was the one who wasn't paying attention, but the girl seemed to be convinced that she did it. Okay then, Ala thought.
Then Ala had noticed that the yellow haired girl that he ran into had dropped some stuff. After looking at it for a few seconds, he realized that she dropped what seemed to be some Vocaloid promo stuff. He got up with little effort. I wonder if she is just a major fan of some sort, or maybe one of the Vocaloid's many managers, Ala thought. After looking even more closely at the promo gear she was carrying, he saw a figure that looked a lot like her, the person he ran into. Ala then asked," Hey, would it be okay if I helped you pass out some of this stuff, and maybe make this a little easier."
Ala did this for two reasons, the first being that maybe a friend could be made out of this. The second reason being that he could tell his friend and creator G that he actually met a Vocaloid in person. Though it was mainly for the first reason because in Ala's mind everyone does better if they have more friends. He then held out his hands, saying," Come on, let me help you."

Rin looked up at the boy once again, when he started to speak to her. Now that she was really looking at him, she started to examine him a bit closer. He looked to be a few years older then she was, as most people that he met were, if they weren't mere children of course. His hair was light, and he wore a red and black jacket. Hm..interesting Rin Kagamine thought. Now that she had looked over the boy, as she normally did with those that she met, she decided to actually reply to his offer. He did want to help her out in passing the figurines out. This made Rin raise an eyebrow. It was quite unusual that anyone wanted to help her with anything, and Rin was always used to the sassy reply of 'no' from most anyone she asked for help from.
But this time, it was different. The boy wanted to help her, and so Rin barely even knew what to say back to him. Rin was used to just bossing others around, and as much as she hated it, it seemed like the only way that people wold do stuff for her. And so, after thinking about it for just a moment, smiled and nodded at the boy, taking his hands that he held out for her to grab. "Thank you. I could use some help around here" Rin agreed to his offer, using the boy's hands to stand herself up, because now that all the figurines were back in her bag where they belonged, she could stand once again. Rin continued to take the bag off of her shoulder, and showing it to the boy. "So, if you really want to help, it would be nice if you could pass these out to the people out there" She started smiling a bit brighter, a twinkle in her eye. "I have an idea for myself"

Ala helped the girl up, and then as she seemed to hand over the bag full of little Vocaloid figurines, she said,"So, if you really want to help, it would be nice if you could pass these out to the people out there. I have an idea for myself." Then Ala started thinking, an idea, I wonder what kind of idea she has in mind. Maybe she has some kind of super heavy super promo thing, nah. That wouldn't work. Maybe she, maybe she might start singing, that would be nice to hear. I like to listen to people sing.
Alabastiar nodded and took the bag, now eager to help out this person he was assuming was a Vocaloid due to an extreme look alike to one of the figurines that he saw, but maybe she was cosplaying either way he was happy to help. He started towards some groups of people saying things about supporting the Vocaloid concerts, also handing out the various figurines. At first the people wondered what was going on, but then took the figurines nodding and then walked off.
He was able to get some out, but some people didn't take the figures. It was disappointing that the people didn't want the figurines, mainly because from what Ala understood, everyone loved free things, but maybe some people just didn't want the figurines. Ala then looked towards the girl that gave him the figurines, seeing what trick she may have laid up her sleep.

Rin started heading over to the middle of the mall, to the fountain area. She wasn't all t that distant from it to begin with. The boy that was helping her out was still in veiwing distance. She didn't want him running off with the figurines, as they cost quite a bit of money to make, and the Vocaloids had very little money, only what they could make on their own, money that wasn't from performances. She looked at the fountain, which was currently on. This made her smile, as it was the perfect set for her to do what she planned on. As usual, they had out a Microphone, just in case people wished to perform. It was an interesting mall, you could say, as anyone if open to it. But normally seems that only Vocaloids take the time to do it, because sometimes they can get a quick buck, and the Master doesn't always keep tabs on those.... Feeling quite released that everything was there, except for one thing that she needed to make sure was around, and that was a boom box. Looking around, for a moment Kagamine Rin worried that there would be a lack of one, but her heart slowed down once she realized that there was a small, modern stereo laying by the fountain on this tile border. Feeling quite confident in her idea, Rin slowly stepped up to the stereo, opening it up with the touch of a button. She then slipped something out of her pocket. It was a paper case, and inside as a slim CD disc. Rin put it into the stereo, closing it. Before the music began to play, Rin took a hold of the microphone. Once everything seemed as perfect as she could get it, Rin took a deep, calm breath, and hit the PLAY button.
The music started coming out, and thankfully it was the right song that she decided on bringing with her today. The song was one that she had written herself, and had yet to perform in public. But hopefully it would end up being successful. As singing most original songs were to her, she was a bit nervous. Normally she wouldn't sing one, but this one was different. It seemed quite good. So once it was her time to start, she started to sing.

The song was called "Melancholic", a name that took her quite sometime to figure out, for some reason. But so far, she was at a good start, using her sweetest voice that she possibly could. Hopefully the crowd enjoyed it.

Ala watched his 'promo partner' after he passed out a majority of the figurines. She walked over to the platform where most people went to sing to the public or make a major announcement or other types of things. At first when she got to the platform she looked a little scared but then looked slightly relieved when she saw something, a boom box or maybe it was a stereo. Then she put a CD in the stereo and after a few measures of what seemed to be a new song.
Ala walked around still passing out the dwindling numbers of Figurines, more people taking them as his partner was singing, and after she was done everyone was cheering, and throwing money onto the stage. The voice, Ala had finally recognized the voice after his partner was done singing. She was one of the Vocaloids, Rin. He couldn't believe it, well he could but still found it strange. He had actually helped out a celebrity. As he was walking over to Rin after the performance he looked down and saw that there was a single figurine left, and it was Rin. Ala took it and put it in his pocket, a memento of sorts.
Ala finally reached Rin and said," Good job up there Rin. You sounded really good." He paused, not really sure what to say next. He continued," I would have joined you in singing, but I wasn't sure if you would be okay with it..", he paused," And I also didn't know what song you were singing. Was that a new piece.?"
He then quickly added," Though you may eventually forget it, my name is Ala, and it was a pleasure helping you."

After ending the song, Rin took another deep breath, as well as a smile crossing her face. It made her feel rather accomplished that she actually got herself to do something in front of a crowd, other then her usual performances. This was something that made her feel proud of herself, being able to try something new. Rin could tell that her song was quite a good success, as there were people who were walking by that were clapping and cheering. Coins hit her feet as well as the area around her, some even hitting the fountain by accident. But most pleasing of them all was the people that Rin observed that stopped to actually listen rather then treat her as mere background music. This gave her a sense of pride that she normally didn't, even in the bigger stage performances that she did. Rin waved to the crowd with a smile, a smile for once wasn't a strained and fake. "Thank you, thank you" Rin politely called through the microphone, before she noticed a familiar figure that started walking up to her. It was the boy from before, the boy that was helping her to pass out the figurines.
Rin didn't move from her position, as leaving the spot would leave all of the coins up for grabs for whoever wanted to take it. Fortunately, the helper boy walked up to her. He first said that she was doing a good job, continuing to add that he would have sung with her if he recognized the song. Apparently the name was Ala, one that obviously wouldn't be all that difficult to forget, considering it consisted of three letters and all. But the part that bugged her, despite all of the comments, was the fact that Ala called her "Ren" You have no idea how many times Len and her were called Lin and Ren, and each time, it greatly bugged her. Eye twitching a little bit, Rin tried her best to not sound aggravated, but it didn't work all that well. "It's Rin, but thank you" She started, ending with a deep breath to calm herself. "And yeah, I wrote the song myself"

Ren? Did I really call her that? I could have sworn that I called her Rin, I'll apologize though she seemed a little upset at that, Ala thought. He then muttered to himself," I might have to get G to check my memory banks, maybe something is going faulty." He then looked at Rin and said,"I'm sorry about that. But yes I do like that song, and it makes me feel better that it is new. I would have felt bad if it was an older song and I didn't know it."
He was glad everything went well with Rin. Ala then remembered about that fact that he had passed out all of the figurines, and held out the bag towards Rin saying," Here ya go. I managed to pass out all of the figurines while you were singing."
Ala then looked off stage to where the crowd was. Some people had left, others had stayed but for what reason? Maybe they were there because they didn't feel like moving, maybe they hadn't moved because they were expecting an encore or another song. Then someone who had stayed in the crowd yelled out," ARE THEY GOING TO DO A DUET!?" Ala started to worry. He wasn't how Rin would react to that, and he wasn't sure if he was going to compare much to a real vocaloid. That sparked an idea in the crowd and they all started chanting something. Some were chanting "Duet", while others wher chanting "Ala" or "Rin"

Rin looked at the boy, who now seemed a little bit flustered about the whole thing that had just gone down. Obviously he didn't meant to call her Rin, and was now a little bit embarassed by it. Rin smiled as she watched it, still trying to keep cool. At this point though, she actually felt a bit embarassed herself. What if the boy had short term memory loss or something? Then it wouldn't be his fault. So when the boy apologized, Rin quickly, and frisk-fully nodded her head, face a light rose red. "O-Of course... it's not a problem"
Rin stuttered a little bit, looking straight at him, as to keep her casual, yet professional composure that she always tried hard to achieve. He also told Rin that it was good that the song was new. The boy must be quite a die-hard fan, as most were in the area, if he would end up feeling bad for not knowing the words. Rin nodded in agreement, or at least just tried to act as she agreed. Because either way, it didn't necessarily bother her at all.
He then went on to mention to the blonde haired twin that he had passed out all of the figurines during her quick performance. Rin took the bag offered to her, and you could sense the slightest glint of jealousy in her eyes as she looked down at it, now light and well, empty. It shocked her that the boy managed to get all of the figurines passed out just like that, while hours of working for her got 10 out there, more or less. Maybe it was her singing that helped. Yeah, let's go ahead and go with that. Now that that whole thing was sorted out, Rin bowed to him politely, thanking him as well. She turned around to leave, most likely to head to the food court in order to grab a quick lunch and be on her way, but something stopped her. Shouts.
Rin Kagamine's eyes widened as she took in the area around her. What exactly was going on? Why were they all chanting and calling out? At first to her she couldn't quite figure out what it was, but once she could listen to just one individual cry, Rin at last knew what it was that she crowd was pleading for. Another song, but not just any kind of song. The wanted it to be a duet. Her heart stopped, and she turned back around to look at Ala/ Rin hadn't a clue if the boy was even familiar with singing at all, but hearing the crowd gave her the impression that he was, and may even be known. "What do we sing?" Rin asked Ala with a questioning look on her face, Figuring that the boy was good with it, as well as good singer, Rin figured that she wouldn't let her fans down.
Even if it was something as seemingly awkward as this.

A duet. Did they really want that?, Ala thought. Then Rin asked a simple question but hard to answer question," What do we sing?" What should we sing? I think it should be a song that Rin also sang, a song that could be considered hers. Then a single song popped into his head. It was the song he was humming to himself before he ran into Rin, Upside Down Reverse Rainbow.
Ala then said, to his now musical duet partner," How about the song that you sang with Miku. I think it was called something like Upside Down Reverse Rainbow." He kind of hoped that Rin would agree with him. Though he had to admit it, he was nervous about singing with the real thing.

Rin continued to have her eyes on the crowd, completely perplexed by the fact that so many of them wanted to hear both her, as well as this Ala character sing together. Rin was a bit worried that their voices wouldn't mesh correctly, as that often times happened when she was pressured into singing with someone with whom she barely even knew. So now she waited, stomach queasy, and practically crawling with butterflies, for a reply from this mystery fan, who man not, in all reality, actually be a fan at all. He may even be quite a bit more then that....
"How about the song that you sang with Miku. I think it was called something like Upside Down Reverse Rainbow" The Ala boy suggested, sounding as confident as he could in the whole en-devour, but Rin Kagamine could just tell, that deep down inside of him, that he was a little bit nervous himself, despite his polite exterior. Rin had to agree, that song was a rather nice one, but she had a few doubts about it. Hopefully his voice had high enough to sound right. But she figured that an octave or two lower may not be that huge of a difference anyways. "Yeah, that sounds like a pretty good idea!" She agreed, turning around to head back over to the microphone. But just before the girl started walking, she smiled faintly, turning back around. The blonde haired teenager took Ala by the wrist, pulling him up to the spot that she had just preformed 'Melancholic' moments before. It was time to put on a show, a show that the people here at the mall wouldn't soon forget!
"Alright you guys! You want us to do it, so we will!" Rin began calling through the microphone, making her whole body seem bright and vibrant as she spoke. It seemed to pep up the small crowd even more, with her high-pitched, yet booming voice sounding through the area, some more people were drawn to watch as well. A cheer burtsed through the Mall, built out of excitement from the fans, and even those who weren't fans, but seemed ecstatic just the same. Rin pumped her other fist in the air, letting her grip be free of Ala's wrist. "Okay, Let's go!" And at that, Rin swiped something out of yet another bag that she totes around with her. It's a simple black bag with yellow stars on it, and she takes it with her wherever she goes. It keeps all of the young blondes music, and luckily, she happened to have the right CD with her today. She slipped it into the stereo, and turned it on. Instantly, the music started, and it was time to start the performance.

Rin started singing, hoping that Ala will quickly catch on and continue singing in harmony with her. It would be just great for her reputation if this went well.
Rin just hoped that this boy wouldn't let her down...

Ala was surprised that he, a somewhat popular utauloid, was actually getting to sing with one of the popular world wide vocaloids, that's what was making him nervous, not the crowd. Then Rin started preping the crowd. Following this Rin grabbed Ala by the wrist, pulling him up onto the stage where she was standing.
Rin then started digging in one of her bags and produced a CD which she pulled out of her bag. The Music started playing and Rin sang the first part of the song:

After the first part Ala joined in with the second verse, now singing along with Rin:

The crowd started going wild. The crowd's size grew back to the original size and then grew a little bigger. Maybe it was because more people were around in the mall now, or maybe they were just interested in the duet, but all Ala knew was that he was happy that he was making people happy.

Rin couldn't help but just stand there and smile at the people. The people whom she, as well as this Ala kid, were making happy with their music. This was something that Rin hadn't felt in awhile, as it had been months since their last concert, and most Promos seemed to be a bit slow as of lately. Rin's body was filled with this sense of joy, a sense that made her feel a way that everyone ought to feel twenty-four seven. Accomplished, that's what it made her feel, as if her duty for the world was actually worth it.
Because just maybe... it really was after all....
After she sung through the first verse of the song, she could hear another voice joining in with her in harmony. It was quite obvious to tell that the voice was from none other then Ala, and the girl had to admit, he wasn't half bad.

The two both sung together. At that last note in the verse, the crowd cheered like mad. Some even were waving their arms in the air. It was a bit strange at first, considering this wasn't a concert, but she still loved it just the same. Coins flew through the air and over to her's, as well as Ala's feet. This made Rin happy,but just the same worried her. She had a feeling the Master wouldn't approve of her taking the money, so she kept it there for the time being. Maybe she could just offer it to Ala, that way it wouldn't be on her mind at all. Not like she needed money or anything anyways....

This was a line that Rin was supposed to sing by herself, while the next line was for Miku originally, it was now the time for Ala to sing it. She crossed her fingers as she bounced around on the stage that he understood that, or else it would be quite... well... awkward. There was a twinkle in the blondie's eyes that you normally wouldn't see. A sparkle of happiness, and this time, it was genuine.

Though he actually was doing it at this moment, he still couldn't believe that he was singing with Rin, it honestly felt like a dream. Ala noticed after the second verse that people were throwing coins, lots of them. He honestly didn't care about the money. Ala pretty much had what he wanted which wasn't very much. He had friends, his creator was nice and also his friend, and he would also get occasional games that he wanted from his fans. Maybe he would take what coins Rin didn't want and donate them to a charity or some, maybe make some more people happy.
Rin sang,"If you use the same excuse everytime you'll end up suffocating"
After this Ala sang the part that followed on time,"More words don't change any part of your fake music's melody."
He was really happy that he could sing in public and make people happy. This is so much fun. Maybe if the duet goes well and Rin isn't busy, maybe we could try hanging out, if vocaloids do that kind of stuff, Ala thought.
